|Occasionally, I enjoy having the evening to myself.
Mad Scientess Jane Expat
You know what's awesome about being an adult? This is what I had for supper tonight:
- 1 bowl of popcorn
- 2 Oreos
- 1 mini-bag of Haribo (There are like 9 tiny Haribo in each of these)
- 1 satsuma
- 1 kiwi fruit
And no one can tell me that's wrong. Well, you can, but I won't care! Muahahaha. And anyway, what did YOU have for supper tonight? Was it unbelievably healthsome and proper? I don't think so. And if it was, do feel free to go and be smugly grown up somewhere else. >:)
(Concerned persons, e.g. the bloke, have been promised that I will eat a proper meal tomorrow, with actual real food and things.)
Oh, oh, guess what I'm having for dessert? Did you guess something that began in "single" and ended in "malt"? Very good! You are right!
See, after that much sweet, sweet sweetness, we usually have to resort to emergency tea/coffee. But it does sound awesome *g* We, however, have lovely fresh bread, so that's a constant temptation for the next day or so (Hmm, mustard or horseradish in these beef sandwiches, because there has to be bread? Or, maybe, cut the end of the loaf into tiny adorable sandwichlets and HAVE SEVERAL OF BOTH!)
Of course, I get to play the trump card of weird - earlier, of my own volition, I had (look away now if green veg offends you *s*) a buttered sprout sandwich. I... I don't know how this happened. On the plus side, no-one can tell me either that buttered sprout sandwiches are wrong :P
Oh, I've been drinking gallons of tea. Tea is also comfort food. :D
A buttered sprout sandwich sounds intriguing. I shall try it sometime, although I'm not currently in possession of any sprouts. I do, however, have four avocados, because Thursday's dinner will be guacamole (delivered by some as-yet-undetermined-mechanism, possibly a spoon) and chocolate.
(PS Icon makes me chuckle.)
Brilliant. Our dinner was easy and lovely and relatively healthsome, but only because the boy decided (slightly randomly) to boil a chicken yesterday. As you, err, do. But my dessert is pink wine. And my starter was hot chocolate and shortbread. What, am I doing things back to front again?
Is it wrong that I pictured him cackling maniacally as he dropped the chicken into the pot?
I made myself a healthy dinner tonight and will eat another tomorrow, but I bought four avocados in preparation for Thursday's meal, which will have guacamole and chocolate and not a lot else.
Not that it makes a darned bit of difference either way, but:
Popcorn: high fiber, whole grain.
Satsuma- fiber, vitamin C
Kiwi- fiber, vitamin C and I am sure all kinds of other good stuff.
Oreo/Haribo: good for the soul
Single Malt: ditto
Seems to me like you got a well balanced dinner out of the deal. Maybe the only thing to improve it would be a spoonful of peanut butter with a bit of chocolate wedged in, just for protein?
Nah. You can get the peanut butter and chocolate protein some other time.
No, I don't think so. I think I must have peanut butter and chocolate right now.
(One of my favourite snacks is two slices of toast - one slathered with PB and the other with Nutella. Occasionally I get really wild and slap them together to make a sandwich. NOM.)
This sounds like what I used to eat all the time when I was single, but add Gin instead of single malt at the end! We have not yet eaten dinner, but had leftover thai chicken curry (that I made last night) for lunch. I think dinner for me is going to be mostly peppermint chocolate. (It's like a chocolate orange, you smack it and everything! except it's mint instead of orange!)
Grilled cheese sandwiches. I lived on them for years. (With fruit for dessert, because I cannot live without fruit.)
I like this peppermint chocolate idea better than the chocolate orange!
Being an adult rules. I love the rare nights I get to forage for supper in the pantry.
I had to make myself a proper dinner tonight. It was necessary, but a bit boring.
