Cat photos as distraction from horrible, horrible reality. [20110808|21:28]

Is anyone else thinking, "This is what happens when you cut or don't provide youth services: Undirected energy + time + incident of badly explained police violence against a deprived community == TROUBLE"? I didn't think you had to have lived in LA to understand that. I'll be honest - I'm scared to go into London tomorrow. I work in one of the poshest bits of it, but I arrive into one of the less affluent neighbourhoods.

I need a break from watching/listening/reading coverage of the riots. Have some photos of tuxedo cats.

Kitteh dreams of being Black Swan in the ballet.

How did we get up here?

Um, more importantly, how do we get down?!

Little help, please.

Me too, kthx.

Not much chance of you being able to work from home then?

Not yesterday, no. Lots of people did, though. Made the trains/Tube super-quiet.

Dang, I hadn't made the LA connection yet but it seems spot on.

I'm just glad the London population isn't universally armed with guns.

I do not envy you your commute dear especially as the cats are telling you to stay in bed or hide in the roof beams.

This is England...go to work, put the kettle on and make tea. That is how we keep going.
Hugs

I hope you don't have any problems tomorrow!

And as usual, your kitty photos are too cute!

No problems, thankfully.

The kitties are currently flopped on the sofa with full bellies, grooming one another. Awww.

It's a bit embarrassing that it took something like mass rioting to wake me from my LJ torpor, but I've been thinking of you guys non-stop as this has unfolded. I'd feel a lot better if I'd gotten a chance to pack a quart-sized pepper spray fogger in your lunch box before you headed in to work today. Do stay safe...

BTW, your kitty needs to wrestle the three-pound pomeranian gift-quasi-rescue the joined the family. Do you know any big-haired fight promoters?

It was probably the safest night out ever, because no one else was around. Most workplaces sent everyone home early and most of the shops and restaurants were shut. It was preternaturally quiet.

I suggest obtaining a very large handbag. Pop the ill-disciplined pup in there, let it think about what it's done, when the whinging gets too pathetic, lift it out again.

Worried and sad about what happened to London town. Hope everything's calmed.

Also, d'awwww. Rafter cats!

Tonight, thus far, seems calm. Cleanup efforts today were pretty phenomenal - check out the riotwombles hashtag on Twitter!
