[with a hint of |How To Destroy Angels - A Drowning]

After beating the crap out of myself, in a good way, at the gym, I spent today painting the four little Clusters that I picked up from the workshop this week.

In brief: 4 layers of gesso primer - the resin they're made out of is thirsty. 1 thin yellow wash. 3 texturizing layers with sucessive addition of brown. 1 thin dark brown wash. 1 coat metallic gold paint.

Tomorrow: Solar panels, engine and top details.

They're for the Royal Society Summer Exhibition in London. It's from 5-10 July, and it features a stand about the Cluster mission, called Aurora Explorer. You can read about the exhibition here.

I wanted to make them look realistic so that people will want to touch them, and therefore be drawn into using the interactive.

I saved a link to this but never remembered to come back--I like these shots, too! The colour layers are gorgeous & I appreciate the care taken to give us visually stimulating shots... *also yoinking* ;)

*checks out exhibit link* I have a half dozen geeks of all ages in my family that would consider that the coolest. exhibit. EVER.

I really hope we get lots and lots of people in. It looks like it'll be amazing.
