I had to say goodbye to my favourite* Little Niece this morning. Before she left, however, we took a walk down to the marshes with Mummy and Grandparents.

There's an Elder Sign behind you, Auntie Nanila

You're too slow, Auntie. And jealous of my Hello Kitty wellies

Pause for a reed fight with Mummy, refereed by Granddad

Auntie Nanila in fuschia Hunter wellies (with mist)

Comin' to getcha with Mummy backup

Upping my strike potential on the Mummy-steed

Galloping off into the mist, having slain Auntie with a reed-lance

Reading the signs

A fig for your signs, I say

THE END

Oh, also! Favourite interludes:

Little Niece: Auntie Nanila! You're standin' under the mistletoe!
There is a rush, and I am kissed.
Little Niece: You're STILL standin' under the mistletoe!
I am kissed again. This one pushes me over & out from under the mistletoe.
Little Niece, pointedly: Now I'M under the mistletoe.
I kiss Little Niece. Subsequently, there is giggling.

On Boxing Day, Little Niece rang us on the grandparents' phone. The bloke answered.
Bloke: Hello?
Little Niece: ...Auntie Nanila?
Bloke: Hello, miss. No, this is Uncle Bloke.
Little Niece: ...Auntie Nanila?
Bloke: No, it's Uncle Bloke.
Little Niece, flatly: Auntie. Nanila.
Bloke: Shall I see if I can find Auntie Nanila?
He hands the phone to me.
Me: Hello, Little Niece!
Little Niece: AUNTIE NANILA! We're comin' ta see ya tomorra. I got a kitty bottle and books and...**
There is grumbling in the background from the bloke's vicinity.

* Also, only.
** Little Niece is in possession of an adorable broad Yorkshire accent, courtesy of her nursery.

Adorable! I find I am liking children more and more. Of course it helps that the ones I have been spending time with have excellent parents.

Yes, the quality of the parents has a large impact on the likeability factor of a child!

She's so cute! And how funny that you're liked more than the bloke!

Oh, I'm not the most popular with everyone. Little Nephew prefers the bloke, because he can throw LN around and generally play rougher with him.

She's visiting next week. New adorability overload is forthcoming.
