Queen's Tower

Have I shown you guys the view from the windows of my office? I don't think I have. This is what I see when I water my little collection of plants on the windowsill in the morning. The imposing spike is the 87 metre Queen's Tower. The tower bells ring on royal birthdays and on the dates of degree ceremonies. They are, frankly, rather dissonant and not particularly enjoyable.

If I lean out and look to the left, I see this.

Royal Albert Hall

I do feel rather fortunate, I must say.

That's about the least obscure Beatles reference ever.

Truly

In fact, to me, even knowing where or what Albert Hall looks like is the camera obscura

I assume it's that domed thing there

It's obscure enough to me to be totally meaningless! I know very little about the Beatles. I had to look this up.

It is! It's also unbelievably expensive. If I didn't work for the university, there's no way I could afford it. The average price of a property in this area is upwards of £2 million.

Nice view! I actually have a better feel for where you work now! I used to stay in a hotel when I visited friends on Brompton (?) in South Kensington...

Old Brompton Road, perhaps? Did you ever go to the cemetery? I posted some photos from it a while back.

It does mean having to work in London, though. Perhaps some people would view this romantically, but I think they're probably ones who haven't had to commute here for years!
