METALHANDS. METALHANDS OF THANKFULNESS. [20091126|18:23]

It's Thanksgiving in my country. I've been sent home from work early because my coughing and sneezing were disturbing my colleagues. I'm heating up frozen pizza to eat alone in the house because the bloke is going out for drinks with his workmates.

But I'm not depressed.

Because

I got my passport back. \m/

Leave to remain in the UK and work for the employer of my choice through 2012. \m/

I'm going to pretend this video of the Muppets singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" was made for me.

I knew I didn't spend five years of my life slogging away at a PhD for nothing!

Yay!

Sorry you're having crap Thanksgiving - not really a relevant festival here! I used to think it was the same thing as harvest thanksgiving, but not so much it turns out! If it's any consolation, it's St Andrews day on the 30th and there are bound to be lots of ceilidhs.

Oh, it's not a bad Thanksgiving at all. We're going to have a proper meal on Saturday. I'm definitely contented this evening. :-D

We're having a ceilidh - a proper one, I'm told - for our group's Christmas party this year. I'm excited. But what do I wear?

Comfy shoes! And preferably a tartan skirt. I have a great tartan mini-kilt from Next for ceilidhs. I think they're selling them this year too, but not in the same nice red I got mine in unfortunately.

I checked out Next but the tartan kilt they had that I liked (blue) was sold out in my size. I got a full outfit (kilt, crisp white shirt, coloured tights) from M&S instead. :-D I already have a pair of comfy black flats to wear. Thank you!

Yes indeed! We had Thanksgiving dinner last night, and even had an unexpected guest. She was very apologetic but we told her this was exactly in the spirit of the holiday & gave her an extra-big piece of pumpkin pie. :-D

You'd have been welcome at our table for Thanksgiving. *nods & grins*

WAHEY!

Thank you for the sentiment, but I think you would probably have preferred it if you could have put me in a plastic bubble while I ate dinner. I was pretty germy on Thursday.
