Anyone for Apollo 11? [20090711|08:48]
Mad Scientess Jane Expat

Attn: Londoners

I'm planning on attending a lecture called "Apollo 11 Forty Years On" at the Royal Aeronautical Society next Thursday. I believe the two speakers are planning to focus on the engineers who made Apollo possible, rather than rehash the experiences of the glory hounds astronauts.

The lecture is free and open to members and non-members. Reception starts at 17:30, lecture at 18:00. I may not make it for the reception, but I'd be happy to meet up with people for drinks after.

The location is No.4 Hamilton Place, London W1J 7BQ, UK. I think it's near Green Park tube station, although I plan on walking there from Imperial, so you may wish to consult a map.

The flyer for the event can be found here.

[READS FLYER] Exclaiming? *Exclaiming*?!?

Awkwardly fluffing his carefully pre-scripted lines, more like! =:o}

It keeps the conspiracy theorists busy, anyway.

Well, poor lamb, he'd just had a long tiring commute to work and then all that last minute stress finding somewhere to park* in time. He probably wasn't at his best. "Buzz, that's the last time I let *you* give me a lift on the most important day of my career!"

*(Don't you hate it when you're rushing to be somewhere and someone's filled up all the spaces with boulders?)

I'd go if I was still in London.

Wish I could go to that :(

Also, from what I've read, Neil Armstrong has always shunned the media attention. Buzz Lightyear Aldrin however....

Yes, Neil Armstrong has been notoriously difficult to interview. I think he figured he would be forced to repeat the same things 5847932 times and decided it wasn't worth it. Aldrin doesn't seem to mind...
