Dr Weiler said there was a possibility this mission could also now become a joint venture with NASA even though ExoMars is quite advanced in its design.
As someone who very recently worked on ExoMars, I would like to take this opportunity to say HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHadvancedHAHAHAHA.
Seriously, though, the European mission has just been delayed to a launch date five years later than the NASA mission. It's not that the design is more "advanced" than NASA's, it's just different, and it would be difficult to integrate the two.
