For the fourth time in as many years, I'm moving. [20080430|11:29]

My flatmate gave our landlord the required month's notice today, so I guess it's time to announce that I will soon go from being a North Londoner to being a South Londoner.

It's almost like moving to a different country. A country where the tube doesn't go and you can walk a mile without seeing a wine bar. Wow.

I hear there are sharks...

I'm lucky enough to have a place already, which is excellent.

No no, Sarf London is actually quite a lot of fun. Okay, the bit I'll be living in is fairly residential and quietly pastoral, but there are bits (Clapham, Camberwell, Brixton) that are loads of fun not far away. Somewhat less safe fun than Norf London, though. ;-)

It's a bit of an exaggeration. The tube does go to bits of Sarf London but it's not nearly as convenient, especially where I will be (southwest). Also, it makes cycling to work a real possibility, and would shave loads of time off my commute. I'd still have to be v brave, but it could be done without having to cross the busiest bits of central London, which is what kept me from doing it while living in Islington.

I'll be quite close to some really big pretty parks, too, which I'm looking forward to. And adds to the cycling urge.

...I'd still have to be v brave...

Is the traffic particularly* nasty? You aren't going to be sending me off to the lab to develop London-traffic-proof nanila armor, are ya?

* ...thinks back on being dragged fifteen feet on the bumper of a '74 Challenger by a Miami driver...

I think I might actually be a lot closer to you, though? I'll be in Mortlake.

Closer yes, and if I hadn't moved from Battersea to Dorking last week, very close! Grrrr :-)

Lovely bit of S London though, g'luck and all that!

Thank you. We should arrange to have a pint at one of the lovely pubs by the river, especially as it's coming up to summer now. Or hey! A Kew trip. :-D

i know your current flat is pretty far from work, but does this have anything to do with the burglary? or just a general upgrade?

It was being considered before the burglary, although that little event did help spur things along when it came to making the final decision.

Hell, it might as well be a different planet as far as Londoners are concerned. Have you ever tried to get people to party in one when they're living in the other? Almost impossible.
