[the weather today is |I love this town]

As I passed a pair of drunken cockney heroes last night, I heard one of them whistle appreciatively.

Friend of Dave: Whuhoho, ye want to watch out, Dave. You can get in trahble.
Dave: Fer wot?
FoD: Bird-wotchin'.
Dave: (moment of silence whilst this processed)
Dave: 'Ow can ye get in trahble fer bird-wotchin'?
FoD: Becoz, mate. If 'er boyfriend seez ye, then whuhoho, ye want to watch out, Dave.

There is a pause while Dave considers this information. I pick up the pace a bit.

Dave: 'Ow can ye get in trahble fer bird-wotchin'?
FoD: Whuhoho...

*giggling* That's completely wonderful.

(Y'know, as long as there was no feeling of 'menacing', which, based on the script, doesn't appear to be)

No, there was no menace. There wasn't even creepy. They were just way too thick for me to take them seriously.

I wonder how many times they had that conversation.

I could still hear the occasional "Whuhoho..." behind me when I turned down my street.

Oh man, as much as I hate street harassment, that anecdote is just too funny.

Yeah, I'm not usually fond of it either. I've had a couple of really scary experiences with it here, much worse than anything I ever got in the States. That may simply be because everybody walks so much here that you end up coming into contact with people that you would normally only glare at as they drove past in Cali.
