Mad Scientess Jane Expat
I've been at Imperial for a little over five months.
Today, I filled up the last leaf of a 200-page lab notebook and started a new one.
I can think of no more concrete demonstration of the way that this job has consumed my life.
Also, it was one of the lab denizens' birthday on Sunday. I gave him a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail.
I can think of no more concrete demonstration of how much I love it.
(This inane comment brought to you by the realisation the grinning and making a thumbsup at the screen probably wouldn't reach you.)
When I include my personal notebook, where I record meeting notes and bits from papers (half-full) and the official lab notebooks, I feel even more virtuous. This is probably the main reason why I write everything down. ;-)
Hey, what time did you want to meet tomorrow? I should be there providing I'm not still ill (I can't believe we planned to meet again and I'm off work sick ill again!) but I should be fine tomorrow, I will be!
Heya, sorry to do this, but I think I'm gonna have to postpone. I'm exhausted, I think I'm getting ill and I suspect that if I drink tonight, my liver will leap up and throttle my brain. :-(
Thats ok! I've been in bed for the past few days with flu anyway, I think my liver would put me in a similar position!
Get well soon!
Peers speculatively and optimistically across room at bottle of Ardbeg and realises it's left the office. Damn!
Hey, it wasn't YOUR birthday. You'll just have to wait for your own bottle.
Thoroughly consumed, but well-loved...if it works for you, s'all good. *Hi-5s*

It's really great how this life seems to be everything the last one wasn't. I am absolutely thrilled for you. xo.

YAY for jobs that don't suck!
This is fanfuckingtabulous.
woot! Good for you - you've done so well.
