Banksy's branching out.

He tagged the West Bank wall.

Banksy, who hails from the UK city of Bristol, never allows himself to be photographed and created the images last week.

Banksy is well known for his art stunts around the world. He condemned the wall but described it as "the ultimate activity holiday destination for graffiti writers".

His previous creations, which critics condemn as stunts, have included a bronze spoof of the statue of Justice from the Old Bailey, London, wearing thigh-high boots and a suspender belt.

He also embarrassed the British Museum by planting a hoax cave painting of a man pushing a supermarket trolley, which he said went unnoticed for three days.

My favorite Banksy ever, featuring TEH GAY.

I hope he never gets caught. I really don't want to know who he is, ever.

I like the part about "critics condemn [his work] as stunts." Condemn? I thought that was recognizing it for what it was.

There's a cavity search joke in here somewhere but I think I'm too scandalized to flesh it out.

Oh Go*d. I think you win. *laughing*

I can only dabble along the surface of innuendo or my flaming cheeks become a distraction. Or so I've been told. ;) I *mean* to be hearty and saucy but I embarrass fairly easily. Bother.

Umm...something, something, something...spread-em'?

Yes, you win on both counts. I'm really pretty spooky so I add very cautiously... If you're all right w/ it, I'll hold off just a little w/ the idea of friending later? You don't seem the dainty flower that would be hurt by it, but one never knows.

I dunno. We'd have to take a peep under his helmet (ho ho) to find out.

When I first read the headline, I mentally translated "West Bank Wall" to "Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem" and got a little hot under the collar. I wondered why he was still alive (which is to say, why he had been able to pull off the prank without getting shot by the security surrounding the "wailing wall" and then, failing that, why he hadn't been pulped by an angry mob.

But... pranking the "security barrier" is much easier to laugh about.

It's neat that he's an anonymous man in a gorilla mask, no? His name is Banksy and he's from Bristol, and I hope that's all we ever know about him.

Wired...or MetaFilter, I can't recall which, just did an article about him t'other day. I'm rather fond of the Hornet wearing a pink bow with "Have a nice day" next to it.

Though it's true, you can't get much better than kissing bobbies.

Yeah, I like the Turner landscapes with the congestion charging sign and the security camera. Wahey, incongruity!

Thanks for the share! I love the concept--stealthy, sassy art. ;)
