Brixton Market [20050709|14:23]
Mad Scientess Jane Expat
[Tags|, , ]

This morning, we gritted our teeth and hopped on the Northern Line via Bank to go to Borough and Brixton Markets. The trains were sparsely populated. We trickled sadly past the closed-off platforms at King's Cross and had a brief moment of panic later when we stopped in the tunnel before Kennington. However, once at Brixton, we spent ten pounds on a hat and two pairs of sunglasses, which gave us the opportunity to demonstrate that we Londoners are keeping our cool on the Underground.

One of our house guests wearing the hat.

Marco in the sunglasses on the Victoria Line.

I don't know what's up with the MTV angle here. You'll have to ask my boyfriend.

But you might have to take a number to talk to him, baby. Form a queue, please. No pushing.

Why thank you, Ms. S.

Yeah, I rode the tube again yesterday and it was still a bit nerve-wracking. When I came home to Camden Town in the early evening, although the trains were pretty packed, I was surprised to see how few people there were entering the station. Normally after the market closes they have to put up all these barriers to funnel people into the staircase down to the platforms, but it was very quiet. What street is Solo on?

Arr!

Whether to loot or to ravish, that is the question. A difficult choice.

The hat is my new cure for irritability. I feel cranky, I put on the hat. Voila! No more grump.

hot be they, thinking. and super-spy cool

"Hmmm... should we feed the one with camera to the sharks?"

"I don't know- that's so Live-and-Let-Die-yesterday..."

"I guess you're right. Let's just spark up the laser for old times' sake. I think it's your turn to wash the mirrored gurney."

"But I cleaned it last time..."

"... and who comes up with the evil plans? Wax-on-wax-off, baby."

Dahhhhling, don't you know, it's the British vernacular. I have trouble remembering to speak American now. So I go back to the US and ask where the rubbish bin is and everyone looks at me like I'm being a pretentious twat.

Goddammit. I can't come up with a suitably funny reply. Let's just pretend the exchange went like this, yes?

TEASE
SET-UP
ACCEPTANCE OF BAIT
WITTY RETORT
LAUGHTER ALL AROUND

I need to be selfish for just one second. if you get a chance, could you check out my Fourier NMR stuff? i dunno if it is right at all, but the concept is what i need to understand and do it.
