In spite of having conducted much of my education within the formal structure of academia, I feel as though it has been scattered, patchwork. Facts flit in and out of my mind. I try to retain the essential, the most meaningful, clinging to nuggets of what it seems to me are wisdom, but in the end I am left only with specific knowledge, detailed information that is useless out of context. A standard operating procedure, a subroutine, an adiabatic electron affinity. Names without stories.
