One of the places my Auntie M took us when we were in rural eastern Ohio was a botanical garden with a wonderful butterfly house. Here the children are walking around awestruck with their sugar-soaked wands. There's a butterfly on Keiki's but I'm not sure he'd noticed it had landed just then.

I've never been to one ... butterflies kinda creep me out. Esp. when they are really big.

I can understand that. Cecropia moths are particularly unnerving in size!

My two are avid entymologists so are unfazed by everything.

Sugar-soaked wands, what a marvelous idea. I'd love to visit a place like that.

It worked so well! And kept the smaller children from trying to grab the butterflies with their bare hands.

I loved the Butterfly House in Yatton but it closed down, I used to hunt for the Glasswing which was mesmerising. I do appreciate that the dusty fluttering around you really unsettles some people. It is weird.

I don't think I've every seen a glasswing outside of photos! What a shame that butterfly house is gone.
