Bush cricket (Day 11 of 30) [20190913|21:07]

Keiki found and caught a bush cricket like this one on the school playground today. Previously, I had taught him how to tell the difference between male and female bush crickets.

He brought the one he'd caught to his teacher and told her, "It has an ovipositor. That means it's female."

He turns five in December. I would give a lot to see a photo of the teacher's face at that moment.

It's the curvy bit at the back of the female bush cricket, which is used to lay their eggs. For some reason!

\o/ I look forward to the day when he tells her he wants to be an entymologist (his current ambition).
