|Shaggy Pony update (with swifts)
Mad Scientess Jane Expat
I looked out the window the other morning to see some very wind-blown Shaggy Ponies (Minipony and Cousin It) grazing and seemingly oblivious to the swifts swooping and diving all around them. I couldn't get any clear shots of the swifts but given that this was shot at 1/2500, or 0.0004 of a second, shutter speed, it gives you some idea of how fast the birds are moving between the ponies!

Yes, I sat watching it for a good few minutes as the ponies moved slowly up the field. :)
Your photos are great. You'd get plenty of 'likes' on Flickr if only I hadn't deleted my account in a fit of spite at them imposing their $50 annual fee upon my poverty-stricken self!
Thank you. Yes, I'm not too pleased at the change of business model. Presumably there are Business Reasons, but I'm mystified what they are given that the service hasn't changed in essentials for quite a number of years. It's this sort of decision that destroys communities and therefore the business, in the long run.
I wonder how many people ditched Flickr in protest? I thought the imposition of the $50 fee would anger a lot of people, but most of those I know who are on Flickr seem to have blithely accepted it. They must have more cash than I have. Mind you, that's almost inevitable!
Cousin It is looking quite beautiful!
She's very glossy at the moment, isn't she!
Swifts are so incredibly fast ...
Photographing them in flight is an almost impossible task without better kit (and more time to sit and wait) than I currently possess, but I persist!
A very good shot you can see the wind blowing the ponies manes with the birds between them a nice looking pony the black one
Sorry to be picky but the upper bird has a red face, blue/black upper and white belly, that is a swallow.
Lower could be the same or a house martin but swifts are brown all over.
