[The lab’s current chocolate stash, from left to right: Tim Tams, Mint Slices, Caramello Koalas.]

One of my colleagues just came back from a month in Australia, visiting her partner’s family. As is traditional, she brought a stash of treats to the lab. This consisted of the following:

Tim Tams: Generous layer of milk chocolate coating a chocolate biscuit interior. Like an inverted bourbon. Or a Penguin on steroids.
Mint Slices: Generous layer of milk chocolate coating a smooth minty interior. After Eights on steroids.
Caramello Koalas: Milk chocolate koalas with caramel filling. I can't think of a UK equivalent.

Poll #2084641 Australian Treats

My favourite of these is/I would most like to try

Tim Tams.
6(54.5%)
Mint Slices.
3(27.3%)
Caramello Koalas.
2(18.2%)

I've wanted to try TimTams for ages but I can't get them in stores here. Only online and if I only order one package postage would be almost the same as the biscuits are. So I'd have to order like 5 packages or whatever. And I'm not sure I'd like them enough for that ... *sigh*

I'm happy to send you a packet of Tim Tams if you really want to try them.

Thanks for the offer but I'm sure postage would be outrageous!

I cannot say if they would be worth it for you, but I'm considering an order myself. They were my favourite of the three.

I love Tim Tams! My friend brought me some from her business trip to New Zealand last year and from then on, I was hooked.

They're so good. I think they were my favourite of the three, and that's saying something, given how much I love caramel.

Alas, I did not! It was only through DW/LJ comments that I learned of it, and when I did, they were gone. :(

What a bummer! Next time then...whenever that may be.

I adore TimTams but the original is probably my least favourite. I like the caramel ones or the white ones... or red velvet. Basically anything but plain chocolate.

Okay, there are OTHER types of Tim Tams?! I am now on a mission to hunt them down, as I know there are enough Aussies in London for there to be at least a few shops that sell them.

I'm with melissa_maples in liking the original flavor the least. Of the flavors I can easily get, the dark chocolate mint is my favorite. In the US, Pepperidge Farms has been importing several flavors of TimTams during the colder months of the year. Hopefully they'll do it again this year even though Campbells, which owns both Pepperidge Farms and Arnott, is planning on selling off Arnott.
