I think we could all stand to finish the week with something fluffy and not so harrowing. So here is a calming photo of me at my desk at work at 07:15 yesterday morning, as the first installment of the Seven Days of Selfies bit of the LJ-versary celebrations.

Scientist at work

And here is Friday's Unscientific Poll, which is soothing and about socks and has been shamelessly poached from my Twitter friend .

Can you sleep in socks?

Yes, whether it's business time or not, I like having warm feets

Not so much hot, but my feet get really itchy if I sleep in socks.

When it's a bit cold, nice long socks are the quickest way of warming up. When it's so cold I'm in thermal leggings and a jumper anyway, not having socks on would just be daft. When it's hot... well, no.

If it's really cold in winter, I occasionally go to sleep with socks on, but I always wake up about an hour after and remove them because too hot!

This is what I do. Socks for cold feet, but they will wake me up at some point in the night and then I'll take them off.

I think I tend to live in quite cold houses!

Or option (3), "It's complicated" ;)

It's been years since I worse socks to bed, although I have no trouble with it. Mainly because I enjoy sharing mah feets with mah wife ;)

Heh. The bloke likes to share his feets with me too. He's always trying to warm them up on me. We got hot water bottles, but he does it anyway!

Hey now, sometimes my feets are warm!

...I know this, because I get asked "How are your feet warm?", with a note of incredulity ;)

I can (and do) only wear socks to bed when it's really cold, otherwise my feet get too hot.

*nods* I tend to get very warm when I sleep, so wearing socks to bed makes me overheat even when it's cold out.

When it's really cold in winter I need socks to fall asleep - well, I need my feet warm to fall asleep and they are veeery slow to warm up. I will wake up at some point during the night and pull the socks off, because I also cannot sleep when my feet are to warm. Also, it has to be short socks, because otherwise my feet are still cold but my ankles are indeed to warm.
(Yes, I am complicated XD)

[eda:] Also, this seems one very politely (British?) phrased poll ;)

I understand. When I do wear socks to bed (has to be pretty cold out) then agreed, they're always short ones.

it's me toes, ice cold always! i could be having hot flashes and night sweats and be sleeping in the tropics, but my toes are always cold. i use low-cut tennis socks when i'm otherwise hot but desperate.

Low-cut tennis socks are definitely best for sleeping in, to prevent hot ankles!
