Totally frivolous Neko Atsume picspam [20160114|14:56]

Yeah, I can't cope with the news or bring myself to talk about life right now. So instead, I give you a Gratuitous Neko Atsume picspam!

I haven't been so captivated by a game in years. Possibly more than a decade. I have collected all the cats. I have all but two of the "common" cats' mementos. I own all the toys. The only things I have left to do are to get the rest of the (mostly) rare cats to bring me their mementos, and purchase the other two backgrounds. Although my favourite is likely to remain the Zen Garden which features in the picspam.

Anyway, I have been carefully constructing a series of gardens. The first was inspired by a comments exchange with [personal profile] lurkingcat, and after that, I just couldn't stop.

The Food Garden.

The Expensive Garden (no toy worth less than 25 gold sardines).

The Tents & Tunnels Garden.

The Pots & Pails Garden.

The Holiday Treats Garden, after an update where seasonally appropriate items were added.

The Hot & Cold Garden.

And finally, the Chromatic Garden series is behind the second cut.

The Red Garden.

The Pink Garden.

The Orange Garden.

The Green Garden.

The Blue Garden.

Fellow Neko Atsume players! What themes have you come up with for your gardens?

Um, nothing? It takes about five minutes a day to maintain. The level of interaction required from the user is extremely low, which is a big part of the reason I'm still playing. It's soothing to check in on the cats periodically, so I look at it more frequently than I need to, but that's still not a significant chunk of time.

HA! I love this! Especially the chromatic gardens--what a fun idea.

I have all the cats and most of all their mementos (all the normal cats and about half the "rare" ones) but not all the toys, yet. I just got my second remodel, the modern one, and am now collecting all the toys that look best in that theme (red/black/white etc). I think of it as "Lady Meow Meow's house". The western them ("Billy's House") will be next.

I renamed a bunch of the cats after my own rl pets and all the TNR cats in my alleyway. So it's like fantasy football of all the best "cats I have known" and I take pictures of those combinations: Hey, look, it's my two past indoor cats and my two current alley cats, all on the same jumbo cat tree at one time!"

Small pleasures. I'm easy to please.

Ooh, now I'm really looking forward to acquiring the modern theme.

One thing that irritates me about the Western theme is the cactus on the lower left side. It partially obscures the view of a couple of the toy-places on the upper level. Cannot get good shots of the kitties when they're playing there. It's harshing my mellow a bit. ;)

It is so very soothing. Especially after a bout of dealing with howling teething flu-ey baby.
